Chotanikkara Temple is a family temple of the renowned Eranhikkunnath Nair family of Makkada, Kakkodi of Kozhikode District. The main deity of this temple is Lord "Asurala" the kiraata variant of Lord Shiva. Another sanctum sanctorum also situated near by to the main deity, in which Lordess Bhagavathy in the variant of "Bhadra Kaali" is worshipped. The main festival is the Thira Ulsavam(Theyyam) in April-May season(Medam month of malayalam era) and the 'Uchal'(Kalam kari) in February(Makaram month) and the Prathisha Dinam during April(25th of Meenam). The sanctums are not opened and worshipped daily. Only monthly poojas are performed, which will fall on the 1st Saturday of every Malayalam month.
